Gangtok, June 21: On Tuesday, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the family of Sumitra Rai, who tragically lost her life in a landslide that occurred in Pakyong district. The incident took place around 11:00 am in Singtam village when a hillock collapsed onto Rai’s house, burying her alive under the debris.

After visiting the landslide site, Chief Minister Tamang extended his condolences to the victim’s family and assured them of the government’s full support. He directed the district administration to promptly provide relief to the affected families.

According to the state government’s disaster relief guidelines, the compensation of Rs 10 lakh will be granted to the family. Additionally, financial assistance will be provided to aid in the construction of a new house.
